The Antara GTC is based on the five-seater Chevrolet T2X concept. A similar two-door concept was later displayed at the January 2006 New York International Auto Show as the Saturn PreVue. The production Antara is a longer four-door seven-seater vehicle, similar to the Chevrolet S3X and the closely related Chevrolet Captiva.

The first-generation Agila was a rebadged version of the Suzuki Wagon R+, which was produced in Japan. The Agila's Opel-sourced 1.0 and 1.2-litre petrol engines were smaller than the European-market 1.3-litre found in the European-market Wagon R+, but were more powerful and refined. Equipment levels, low asking prices and running costs also contributed towards the Agila's success.

The Agila was built at Opel's factory in Gliwice, Poland. The Suzuki Wagon R+ was built at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary until 2004, and since January 2005 has also been built in Poland.

While many city cars such as the Ford Ka, Volkswagen Fox and Fiat Nuova 500 come with just three doors, the Agila comes with five. It is/was tall as Korean city cars such as the Hyundai Atos.

Connect one test lead to the end of the solid red wire (A) and another to the end of the striped red/black wire (B). (See: “Fusebox View”). Release the switch for a moment. The ohms should revert back to infinity. If it doesn’t (if measurement goes back and forth), the switch may have poor internal circuit isolation, which ndicates carbon buildup or overheated parts. (If so, spray-cleaning may provide a quick-fix). If the ignition switch is verified to be in working condition, the first protective action recommended is to install a protective 4-prong 30 amp relay in the starter circuit. An inexpensive relay will take up the brunt of the current when the starter is powered, keeping it out of your valuable original GT ignition switch.
